Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 1 August 2025
Welcome to ScamTest. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use ScamTest, anonymously or as a registered user.
Free vs Premium
ScamTest is a free application, anyone can install it on their smartphone or tablet and learn about scams, frauds, schemes, and how to avoid them. The app can be used anonymously, without creating an account or paying any fees. In this case, basic usage data may be collected automatically for ads (see “Third-Party Services” below).
Users can also register to access the premium features. ScamTest makes use of various services to manage user-generated content, account information and payment information (see “Third-Party Services” below).
Data Collection and Use
Free Users:
- No personal data required.
- Anonymous usage data and ads data (via Google AdMob, see "Third-Party Services" below).
Premium Users (with account):
- Email address and password (via Supabase).
- Payment info (via RevenueCat and your chosen app store — we do not store this ourselves).
- Profile name, shown on top of your comments (optional, only for writing comments).
- Avatar and avatar color selection (optional, only for writing comments).
- Comments you write in the app, and related likes and abuse reports.
ScamTest encourages anonymous use. An email address is needed only for premium services, to connect your subscription, for user verification, and important updates and notifications. Your email address is not visible to nor shared with other ScamTest users.
Your profile name should not be name and surname, but a nickname or other not-identifying name. Sharing of personal information is not permitted.
Your password is not known by ScamTest but independently managed by Supabase and can only be changed by yourself through ScamTest. If you forgot your password, use the in-app functionality to receive a temporary code via email to login, then set a new password.
Information such as user ID (a unique random identifier assigned to the user), IP address, type of device, failed operation, and other relevant data may be stored in exceptional cases, for example in the event of errors, crashes or security incidents, for a maximum of five years after resolution of the case.
User Rights
In accordance with GDPR, registered users have the right to be provided with a copy of their data, request changes, and the right to be forgotten.
You can manage your content directly through ScamTest, by directly editing and removing comments, likes and reports. However access to comments is only allowed to premium users. If your subscription is expired or you are unable to access the app, contact us via the details contained in this page (see “Contact Us” below).
Even with your subscription expired, it is still possible to delete your account and all of your comments directly through ScamTest. Please consider your comments may be valuable to other users before proceeding. You can also request deletion, of your account or even just specific comments, via the details contained in this page (see “Contact Us” below).
Your data is stored by ScamTest for the duration of the service, or until explicit deletion of the user account. If the user deletes their account, all personal data, including comments, are deleted permanently.
Security
Your personal data (email, password, comments, likes, reports) is stored securely using Supabase’s cloud infrastructure (see "Third-Party Services" below). Remember however that no system is 100% secure and although we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, it is impossible to guarantee its absolute security.
Your profile name and comments will be visible to other premium users. We encourage the use of anonymous information, nicknames and no direct reference to personally identifying information.
Your email address is not visible to other users, but only to ScamTest admins and, in exceptional cases, Supabase admins (see "Third-Party Services" below).
